Transcultural Adoption Travel Coaching

Maybe you are traveling to adopt a child who is of a culture and/or race that is different from your own.

Or maybe you’ve been a family for years and are hoping to take a heritage trip to your child’s country of origin.

I’ve worked for over 20 years as a healing-informed, trauma-responsive coach, trainer, and educator in youth development, child welfare, and international education in the US, Spain, and Costa Rica. I also have an MA in Intercultural Service, Leadership, and Management.

I’ve worked with children and adolescents, and with families from a wide variety of backgrounds, including multicultural, multi-generational, LGBTQ, and kin, foster, and adoptive families.

I’ve lived some of what your family might be experiencing. I grew up in transracial kinship care from the time I was two years old, navigating what it meant to:

  • be biracial,

  • hold multicultural heritage,

  • be a brown child in a white family and community,

  • and come to terms with my own sense of identity.

I understand both the joys of this type of journey, and the dysregulation that grief and loss, attachment, and struggles with loyalty can sometimes cause.

Your family is unique. I’ll help you consider what’s happening in your family, and how to prepare to best meet everyone’s needs.
